'Resident Evil: Retribution' - Evil Goes Global in 3D!

It's been 10 years since the first Resident Evil movie, and the battle against the Umbrella Corporation and the undead still continues. Dear Alice, how the hell are you still alive?? But there is a silver lining to this epically long battle. That is to watch the agonizingly slow depletion of the human race in exciting 3D! This fifth installment of the series is the second to be made in 3D. We can only expect the best from 'Resident Evil: Retribution' in all it's gorious (pun intended) gun-slinging, zombie slaying prowess!

Suited for 3D? (what does this mean?)
Let's see.. A combat trained protagonist fighting against an evil corporation with huge military power set in an apocalyptic world roaming with flesh-eating zombies and monsters? I guess it would be nice in 3D. Sorry, I meant to say AWESOME. In case you missed it, the word is AWESOME. It doesn't take more than a couple of brain cells to imagine how much you could exploit this movie with 3D.

Score: 5/5

Filmed for 3D? (what does this mean?)
Paul W. S. Anderson, father of the Resident Evil movie series, wouldn't have had it any other way. After the success of 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' in 3D, it is no surprise that this movie would be made in 3D. It was clear that a lot of planning and effort went into making the movie in 3D. Scenes were carefully selected and captured in 3D, using 3D cameras. No post-conversion hack jobs here!

Score: 5/5

Closed Window Experience (what does this mean?)
The element of depth was craftily included into this movie. I can't say that it stretched very deep into the screen, but it was ideal for each scene. This was great because it didn't make the 3D look fake. The actual dimensions of the each object in each scene could be felt without exaggeration. However, the depth could easily be missed during fast-paced action sequences. Don't worry, there was enough "bullet time" to register the depth during such scenes.

Score: 4/5

Open Window Experience (what does this mean?)
I am proud to announce that this movie had no shortage of action bursting out of the screen! Some objects that came at the audience were bullets, magazines, guns, ice axe.. and those are just the ones I remember! There were other action scenes that came toward you too! It was a shame that some of these 3D effects were hindered by the Chinese subtitles at the bottom of the screen. As they are super-imposed on the picture, they tend to flatten the 3D images to the screen.

Score: 5/5

The Naked Eye Test (what does this mean?)
'Resident Evil: Retribution' fared well in the naked eye test. Apart from a couple of close-up scenes, and fast-paced action scenes, the picture was blur with the 3D glasses off. The 3D glasses helped to correct the blur of the picture and added depth to the image on screen.

Score: 4/5

Final Verdict
If you're going to watch this movie, you've got to watch it in 3D! I would go as far as to call my review harsh to prove my point! This movie was made for 3D! It adds so much value to the plot and movie experie... *throat clear* Right. The 3D was really good. Just for the record, I'm not a fan of the series.

Enough from me! Would YOU recommend watching this movie in 3D?
