I am not here to judge the movie, only it’s 3D value. That
being said, the 3D did its job in this movie, breathing much needed life into a
dead, or perhaps “undead” genre. Abraham Lincoln once said,"Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm." That is exactly what the filmmakers did when they decided to make this movie in 3D. So what did I think about the movie? Well… for a worn out genre, let’s just say it exceeded my expectations. More importantly, how was
the 3D?
Suited for 3D? (what does this mean?)
Just looking at the trailer, let alone the title, is enough
to know how much damage an axe wielding ex-American president can do in 3D! I have my suspicions that the filmmakers might have given thought to making the movie in 3D even before coming up with the plot.
Score: 5/5
Filmed for 3D? (what does this mean?)
So we have 3D fit, but did the filmmakers do this justice? Although the movie was not entirely shot with a 3D camera, there were many action sequences, and even non-action sequences that had much effort and planning put into them. Very little of the movie looked post-converted, and these are parts that were not very relevant for 3D either ways.

The movie did provide some depth. There were occasions where
one could feel the “reality” of the world behind the cinema screen. However,
this was not a prominent feature throughout the movie. It is one of the
difficulties faced in making non-animation films in 3D. The distinction of
depth is present, but not very clear.
Score: 3/5
This is where the 3D comes to live for this movie. There was
no shortage of gimmicky action sequences that took advantage of this. However,
the movie did not exploit this to it’s full potential. The extent to which the
movie challenged the boundaries set by the cinema screen was not as much as one
could imagine it doing. It felt like a half-hearted attempt, although there
were a handful of scenes that did a splendid job.
Score: 4/5
Naked Eye Test (what does this mean?)
The naked eye test returned positive results. There were few
scenes that did not require the use of 3D glasses. Some post-converted movies
look blurred with the 3D glasses off, but not as blur compared to movies that
are dedicated to 3D. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter joins the latter.

Final Verdict
If you decide to watch this movie, have no fear in parting
with a few extra dollars. A feast for the eyes, if not the mind.
Enough from me! Would YOU recommend watching this movie in 3D?
